Isaac Wright

Isaac grew up in a small town in Northwest Tennessee where he learned the values of community, caring for one another, and stewardship. With two decades of experience in every area of political communications and a track record of building successful campaigns and programs throughout the country, Isaac's holistic perspective helps candidates make smarter decisions from budgeting, to targeting, to messaging – and all points in between.

The child of career educators who had a small family farm operation, Isaac was taught from a tender age the importance of work to serve one’s neighbor, of public service, and of public policy. As an adult, he dedicated his professional life to serving those ideals. Whether working on Presidential campaigns, in the halls of Congress, on the gubernatorial campaign trail, on cable news, or in the Governor’s office, Isaac carried with him the values he learned in his small hometown.

In college, Isaac studied Communications at the University of Tennessee with an enthusiasm for religious studies. While a student, a summer internship with the Gore 2000 presidential campaign turned into a full-time job on the national communications staff when Isaac was only 20 years old. He was the only staffer to host a “squirrel and biscuit” dinner during the campaign for his fellow staff. Isaac withdrew from college to finish the campaign and then returned to school only to later withdraw again to be deputy communications director on a U.S. Senate race. He returned again to finish his degree while working full-time on a nearby special election for the state legislature.

Isaac has spent the last two decades as a communication operative and strategist in campaigns and public affairs. He has appeared as a political commentator on Fox News Channel, CNN, POTUS Radio, Sky News, and other national and local programs.

Isaac has presented strategies and provided trainings on effective political communication, rural-voter outreach, campaign communication strategies, and faith-based communication for the DNC, the Association of State Democratic Party Chairs, and the Truman National Security Project and as a keynote speaker for national political groups, state and local political parties, and state trade associations.

Previously, as a consultant to Correct The Record, Wright served as an executive director and chief operating officer of the principal research and rapid response Presidential 2016 SuperPAC effort. Wright’s experiences include numerous gubernatorial and federal campaigns. Wright served as an early primary state communications director for the Hillary Clinton campaign in 2007 and 2008. Specializing in rural and red-state activities, Wright was a senior strategist in the election and re-election efforts of Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe and Missouri Governor Jay Nixon.

Newspaper columnists have referred to Wright as “a Southerner trained in the culture and keen on how Democrats compete in the region.” He has been described by columnists as “closed captioning for the candidate” and “overseer of the message.” Specifically, his rapid response work was described in one news account as “stealing another candidate’s sunshine.”

In 2015, The American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC) named Wright one of the 40 best and brightest campaign professionals under 40 years old currently working in the United States (AAPC “40 Under 40”). Campaigns & Elections Magazine named Wright a “Rising Star” of American politics in 2011.

An active believer in young people’s involvement in the political process, Wright is a former professional adviser to the Tennessee Federation of College Democrats and has guest lectured on strategic communications and political communications at five institutes of higher learning in Tennessee, Arkansas and South Carolina. Wright was honored as the University of Tennessee Public Relations Alumnus Of 2014 and served a three-year term on the University of Tennessee Board of Visitors for the College of Communications. He currently serves on the UT Advertising and Public Relations Board of Visitors.

Wright is a Political Partner at the Truman National Security Project. Isaac and Kate Monson were honored with the 2018 Harry S. Truman Award for Political Leadership.
